Among Friends

Didn't sleep well. Started waking up around 3 or 4am and kind of tossed and turned on and off until then. So when Reese started sitting on my back to let me know it was time for our walk around 6am, I wasn't feeling it. After about 10 minutes, I dragged my butt out of bed and we were off.

Nothing too exciting happened on our walk. The girls found some McDonald's french fries and some bread chunks that someone had thrown out to attract birds...instead they attracted some greedy dogs :) The girls had a full house and we made it back to the building without too much trouble.

I have a routine whenever we are going into a doorway. Mostly learned from watching a zillion episodes of the Dog Whisperer, I ask the girls to sit before I will open the door. So, I was practising this at the side door to our building when I saw one of our neighbours coming towards the door. He has a big, gentle Bernese Mountain Dog named Enzo. The girls love him and Enzo! I knew my routine was probably shot.

As soon as Heidi and Reese see them, they are jumping and pogoing and trying to lick Mike and lick Enzo...we're doing the leash dance. I explained what I was doing and he helped. We both asked them to sit and they calmed down for 1 second (long enough to sit) then pogoed some more and tried to lick Mike's face. (Never bend over when talking to my dogs...you will get your face washed!!!!)

One thing about having dogs is that it's like you've joined some club you didn't know existed. Other people who have dogs or like dogs will talk to you...people who never would have talked to you if you didn't have a dog. It's strange. But nice.
